Double Oak Brush 552 is a 2009 Ford F550. Brush 552 is our first out on all brush/grass fires. This project was built "in-house" by members of DOVFD - providing "sweat equity". Funded in part by CoServ electric cooperative. The bed and 300 gallon skid unit were funded 3 years ago and installed on a 1990 chassis donated by the Texas Forest Service and Flower Mound FD. In June 2009, CoServe provided an additional grant to purchase the 2009 Ford cab. The extended cab offers additional room for sensitive EMS gear as well as seating for a 3rd firefighter to ride along with gear for all 3 firefighters.
The water monitor mounted on the front bumper is controlled from the cab with a joystick, thus firefighters can fight grass fires from the safety of the cab. An 8,000 pound winch is mounted on front but can also be used off the rear of the truck. Recently DOVFD purchased a new chain saw for clearing trees from roads.

A change since these pictures were taken, the red booster line was replaced with 1 inch forestry hose. This allows for easier handling of the hose line.
